Crossing the Cumberlands
October 14th, 2012Here’s an old Bill Monroe tune that was originally written for Lamar Grier who was Monroe’s banjo player at the time in the mid to late 60’s.
By the time Monroe and his Bluegrass Boys got around to recording the song in the studio, Vic Jordan was the current banjo player.
A great, spooky banjo number that sounds great on the slower side. It can be played in either Gm or standard G-tuning. My rendition here is played in standard G-tuning.
